payments Overview

The Income module gives you a clear, structured view of your daily revenue. Entries reach Income in one of two ways:

  • Automatically, once the POS Connector is configured — every sale from your point-of-sale system is booked and displayed here without manual entry.
  • Manually, for businesses without a connected POS system, or as a fallback for any day you need to book by hand.

Both paths use the same underlying booking logic: revenue is assigned to payment types and revenue accounts according to your mapping and chart of accounts.

edit_note Booking a daily closing manually

If you don't use the POS Connector — or need to book a day by hand — you can record the daily closing (Tagesabschluss) directly in Income.

  1. Open the Income module.
  2. Create a new entry for the day you want to book.
  3. Enter the revenue for each payment type.
  4. Save and transmit the entry.

swap_horiz Tips (Trinkgeld)

Tips are booked according to the POS Connector mapping, kept separate from regular sales revenue so tip payouts and their accounting stay clean and traceable.

→ See Mapping payment types to revenue accounts

account_balance Payment types and revenue accounts

Payment types and the revenue they carry are booked according to your mapping and chart of accounts — configured once, in the POS Connector or accounting setup, not per transaction. Income simply reflects the result: every entry already carries the correct payment type and account.

→ See Setting Up Accounting for the chart of accounts.

account_balance_wallet From Income to the Cashbook

Every booked income entry flows into the Cashbook, structured by payment type, so you always have a current, filterable view of your cash and card positions.

question_answer Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Income module in PINIT? Income is where your daily revenue is recorded and displayed — either automatically via the POS Connector or entered manually — booked to the correct payment types and revenue accounts.

Do I need the POS Connector to use Income? No. You can book daily closings manually if you don't have a connected point-of-sale system. The POS Connector automates the same process.

How are tips booked? According to the POS Connector mapping, the same way regular payment types are mapped to revenue accounts.

What happens if a payment type isn't mapped yet? It is booked to the fallback account configured in the POS Connector until you complete the mapping.

Does Income feed into the Journal? Yes. Every booked Income entry appears as a booking in the Journal, alongside all other transactions. → See Journal
