point_of_sale What the POS Connector does

The POS Connector links your point-of-sale (cash register) system to PINIT. Once connected and mapped, every payment type your POS system reports — cash, card, TWINT, vouchers, and others — is booked automatically to the correct revenue account, with no manual entry required.

Sales recorded through the POS Connector flow directly into Income, and from there into the Cashbook.

login Authenticating your POS system

From the PINIT home screen, click the Administration card and select POS Connector. This section is only available to administrators.

To connect your point-of-sale system:

  1. Open the POS Connector section.
  2. Select your point-of-sale provider (or add a new connection).
  3. Enter the login credentials for your POS system.
  4. Confirm to complete the authentication.

Note: The credentials must belong to an account with admin rights on your POS system. A regular staff login is not sufficient to authenticate the connection.

tune Cost centers, fallback account and transfer account

Once authenticated, configure the following before mapping payment types:

  • Cost centers — route POS revenue to specific cost centers if your chart of accounts is structured that way, for example by location or department.
  • Fallback account — the account used for any payment type that is not yet mapped. This ensures nothing gets stuck: sales still post automatically while you finish configuring the remaining payment types.
  • Transfer account — a clearing account used to balance postings between the POS Connector and your chart of accounts before the final revenue booking.

swap_horiz Mapping payment types to revenue accounts

This is the core of the POS Connector setup. For each payment type your POS system reports, assign the revenue account it should be booked to.

Mapping payment types to revenue accounts

Once a payment type is mapped, every future sale of that type posts automatically — no manual booking needed. Tips are mapped the same way and booked according to this configuration.

→ See Income for how mapped transactions appear once booked.

question_answer Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to connect my POS system to PINIT? Login credentials for your point-of-sale system with admin rights. Standard staff accounts cannot authenticate the connection.

What happens if a payment type is not mapped yet? It is booked to the configured fallback account, so nothing is left unbooked while you finish setting up the mapping for that payment type.

Which point-of-sale systems does PINIT support? Supported systems depend on your PINIT deployment. Contact us to check your system, or to request a new integration.

Are tips (Trinkgeld) handled by the POS Connector? Yes. Tips follow the same mapping configuration as regular payment types and are booked accordingly.

Do I need to update the mapping when my POS system adds a new payment type? Yes. New, unmapped payment types are booked to the fallback account until you map them to a revenue account.
